Geocomposites and Geogrids
Description:
These materials increases the life of the pavement structure, contributing to prevention and delay of cracking, stopping the propagation of cracks in the road structure, increasing the lifespan of the road.
Geocomposites are made up of:
• geogrids with high tensile strength in both directions (50/50 kN/m; 100/100 kN/m) at low elongation (2-3%) made by knitting glass fibers with bituminous coating and
• non-woven geotextiles, capable to retain a significant amount of bitumen, until saturation, thus becoming a layer of stress relief and intermediate barrier in the asphalt structure.
Functions:
The intended use of these materials is to perform one or more of the following functions:
• Reinforcement (R)
• Stress Relief (STR)
• Intermediate barrier, sealing layer (B).
Applications:
Rehabilitation and construction of roads, highways, parking lots, airport runways.
